The programme aims to provide students with solid knowledge of and skills in school and community psychology, with an emphasis on self-development, self-reflection and real-life applications. Its focus is?on school and community issues. Students gain a heightened awareness of the relationships between psychology and social needs in school and community settings and develop a strong foundation in professional obligations, research skills, ethical issues and policy implications. The programme also aims to develop critical thinking in addition to skills in applied research and programme evaluation. Graduates are equipped for careers in psychology, education or related community and human services and/or to pursue higher education in more specialised areas.

Intended Learning Outcomes
Graduates of this programme have the following:

A sound foundation in the basic values and ethical stances relating to different psychological perspectives and professional obligations for the benefit of society and a sustainable future.

Advanced knowledge of psychology and current issues in local, national and global contexts and competence in working as socially responsible leaders, supervisors, innovators and educators in school and community services and human professions, as well as in collaborative work with peers.

Essential knowledge of theories and concepts pertinent to psychological processes, with a particular emphasis on those related to school and community settings.

An appreciation and understanding of the historical development of psychology and relevant emerging technologies for contemporary and future human service endeavours and complex interdisciplinary issues.

The ability to leverage emerging technologies for research and practice in applied psychology and human services.

Independent reflection, critical and creative thinking skills and a heightened awareness of the relationships between psychology and diverse social needs, as well as the use of psychology to address major problems and critical issues in indigenous, national and global contexts.

An awareness of the importance of communicating psychology knowledge effectively in professional practice, in addition to the skills to deliver ideas clearly, collaborate effectively as team members and work alongside other professionals or stakeholders from diverse backgrounds and with different perspectives in multidisciplinary contexts.

An understanding of lifelong learning and continuous professional development through self-regulated learning, active engagement in self-reflection, the motivation to stay informed about advancements in psychology, and the ability to apply evidence-based practices to enhance their professional competence and contribute effectively to community services, as well as child and youth services in school settings.
