Mr. Daniel Chum, Speech Therapist

Mr. Daniel Chum is currently Speech Therapist at the Speech Therapy Unit in the Department of Chinese and Bilingual Studies of С�Ŷ��Ƶ. He holds a Bachelor of Social Science degree in Psychology from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He later received his Master of Speech Therapy degree with Distinction from С�Ŷ��Ƶ and qualified as a speech therapist.

Mr. Chum had clinical experience at a non-government organisation, serving nearly 100 old age homes in the New Territories. In addition to providing communication and swallowing assessment and training to adults, he also offered staff consultation and public seminars to raise awareness on communication and swallowing disorders in aging population. Mr. Chum serves both the paediatric and adult populations with communication and/or swallowing difficulties as he joins С�Ŷ��Ƶ. His clinical experience also includes social communication in adolescence, school-based speech therapy, Chinese written language disorders and stuttering intervention.

Mr. Chum is a Full Member of The Hong Kong Association of Speech Therapists. He is also a certified provider of Ampcare’s Effective Swallowing Protocol, Beckman Oral Motor Assessment and Intervention, Oral Placement Therapy, and certified practitioner of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.

Mr. Chum is fluent in Cantonese, English and Mandarin.

Ms. Faye Kou, Speech Therapist

Ms. Faye Kou holds a Master of Arts degree in linguistics from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She later received her Master of Speech Therapy from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and qualified as a speech therapist. Currently, Ms. Kou serves as Speech Therapist at the Speech Therapy Unit in the Department of Chinese and Bilingual Studies of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, providing speech therapy assessment and treatment to individuals with communication disorders, including those with autistic spectrum disorders, developmental language disorders, intellectual disabilities and dyslexia. She is particularly interested in language disorders and treatment strategies in Chinese dyslexia, and regularly holds training programmes on Chinese character reading, morphological awareness, and character writing.

Ms. Kou had also been invited to various organizations in Hong Kong and mainland China, including kindergartens, mainstream schools, rehabilitation centres and hospitals, to deliver speech therapy and conduct professional training.

Miss Kou is a Full Member of the Hong Kong Association of Speech Therapists.

Miss Kou is fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin and English.
